Beaches (continued)

Noetize Beach: Take the N2 towards Plettenberg Bay, turn right to Noetzie. Continue for approx. 5 Kms on a dirt road to the parking site above Noetzie. A steep path leads down to the beach. The Noetzie River forms a pretty lagoon before flowing out over the small sandy beach into the sea. Noetzie is famous for its 'castles'. These are stone holiday houses complete with parapets, built within the last 60 years. The little lagoon and the river are safe for swimming.

Knysna Heads: At the eastern end of Knysna, turn right into George Rex Drive and follow the signs to the Heads. There is a safe swimming cove, sunbathing deck and public change room near the NSRI boathouse and aquarium. The area is ideal for snorkelling. Do not swim out into the channel between the Heads. Toilets, showers, a restaurant, bar and shop are available.

Coney Glen: Coney Glen is a popular fishing and picnicking spot on the Eastern Head. Braai (BBQ) facilities are provided near the parking area.

Beaches (continued)

Buffalo Bay: Take the N2 to George, and take the Buffalo turn-off. A fine, sandy beach stretches all the way to Brenton-on-Sea. Buffalo Bay is a family beach with swimming and excellent surfing conditions. It is also ideal for walking and fishing. Whales and dolphins are often spotted from shore. Showers, toilets, a restaurant and shop are available near the parking area.

Brenton-on-Sea: Take the N2 to George and turn right to Belvidere/Brenton at the end of the road bridge. The beach is suitable for walking and sunbathing. It is also popluar with paragliders. A big rock formation, known as Castle Rock, is a favourite fishing spot. There are several little bays and coves to the east of Castle Rock, with cliffs, caves and rock pools to explore. Fairly strong currents make the swimming dangerous at certain times.

Outdoor Activities
Knysna is about enjoying a spectacular environment and natural beauty in numerous ways. In particular, it's a haven for the outdoor enthusiast and adventurer. Wonderful golfing greens in and near the town attract visitors from all over the world.
