2 BENEFITS TO KNYSNA: SUMMARY OF SELECTED AIMS

The following will be achieved through capital investment by the developer through the proposed project, on private and public land:

· Creation of up to 400 construction jobs during construction phase for a four year period;
· Creation of employment for over 80 permanent full-time and part-time employees in the various service sector industries;
· Substantial Foreign Inward Investment circa R200,000,000;
· A well designed and equipped Public Park with public facilities, providing greater linkages between the people of Knysna and the Lagoon;
· Creation of an amphitheatre with long term income possibilities for the benefit of the Municipality;
· Upgrade and/or relocation of the Sea Cadets Building and the provision of additional facilities;
· Upgrade of the entire district by improving building facades, streetscape improvements, pedestrian boulevards, landscaping etc.;
· Achieving the goals of sustainable development, by promoting densification and optimisation of existing urban land;
· Achieving the Vision 2020 of Knysna Municipality by creating “a town that works for all”;
· Provision of new street lighting, CCTV, tourist info /security /ablution block;
· Fund consultant advice on Social/Affordable /Integrated Development;
· Proposed Development will be “green” in terms of sustainable/renewable design solutions.
